Stop Having the Same Fight. Start Feeling Heard Again.
You love each other — but lately it feels like you’re speaking two different languages. A focused couples intensive can do the work of months of once-a-week sessions. This is the Couples Intensive from Rose Hanna Counseling Services.

What Years of Couples Work Have Taught Me
Most couples don’t come to me because they’ve stopped loving each other. They come exhausted — tired of having the same argument in twelve different outfits. Tired of walking on eggshells. Tired of feeling like roommates instead of partners.
You don’t need someone to tell you who’s “right.” You need a clear, guided way back to each other — and often faster than one 50-minute session a week can give you.
That’s exactly why we built the Couples Intensive: a concentrated block of time, away from the noise of daily life, to actually get somewhere.
The Same Argument, on Repeat
If any of these hit close to home, you’re exactly who this intensive was built for.
“We keep fighting about the same thing.”
Money, chores, in-laws, intimacy, screen time — the topic changes, but the fight underneath it never does.
“I don’t feel heard.”
You talk, but it feels like it bounces off. Conversations turn into debates before they even start.
“I feel attacked, not understood.”
Even small conversations put you both on the defensive before either of you means to.
A Proven Method. Not Just a Vent Session.
The Couples Intensive draws on two of the most researched, respected approaches in couples therapy: the Gottman Method (to map your specific conflict patterns and rebuild your friendship) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (to get underneath the argument and repair the attachment bond driving it).
Instead of chasing the same fight for months in 50-minute sessions, you get hours of focused, guided time — with a clear roadmap for what happens after you leave.

What Happens During Your Intensive
A clear, structured process — not an open-ended vent session. Here’s exactly what’s included.
The RHCS Couples Intensive
- Pre-intensive assessment so we start with real data, not guesswork
- A dedicated, uninterrupted block of intensive therapy time with Dr. Rose Hanna — 6 or 9 hours across two days
- Identification of your specific conflict cycle and the attachment need underneath it
- Hands-on practice of communication tools in the room — not just theory
- A personalized “next steps” care plan to keep your momentum going after your intensive
What You Actually Walk Away With
You’ll finally feel understood
Not just heard — understood. Your partner will get, maybe for the first time, what’s really underneath your reaction.
A repeatable way out of the spiral
You’ll leave with a concrete tool for the next hard conversation — not just a good memory of one good day.
Momentum, not months
Get the equivalent of months of weekly progress compressed into focused, guided time.
A judgment-free room
No one’s keeping score of who’s “right.” Just a safe space to actually be honest.
Clarity — either way
Some couples leave closer. Some leave with clarity that they need something different. Both beat staying stuck.
A plan for what’s next
You won’t leave and wonder “now what?” — you’ll have a clear next step already mapped out.

Led by Dr. Rose Hanna, Psy.D., LMFT
Dr. Hanna has spent her career specializing in couples work, drawing on the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. She holds a Psy.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy and has taught at the university level for over two decades.
RHCS is a Long Beach–based, multilingual outpatient practice — this isn’t a franchised weekend retreat with rotating contract clinicians. It’s local, credentialed, evidence-based care.
Is This Right for You?
We want this to work for you — which means being upfront about fit. The Couples Intensive is designed for couples ready to actively engage in repair work together.
This intensive is not recommended if:
- One or both partners are actively struggling with substance use or addiction that hasn’t yet been addressed in its own treatment
- There is an active, ongoing affair that hasn’t been disclosed or paused
- One partner is not committed to working on the relationship (this format works best when both partners are genuinely willing)
- There is any indication of violence or physical safety concerns within the relationship
If any of this describes your situation, that’s okay — it just means a different level of care is the safer, more effective starting point. Reach out and we’ll help point you in the right direction.
